Slopers are a type of climbing hold that is widely used in climbing gyms and has a more technical character. Climbing on slopes requires a great deal of body control and an awareness of friction and direction.
Sloper - Climbing holds that must be held with an open hand
A sloper is a form of hold where an open hand is required to hold them. That is, one cannot dig one's fingers into an opening, but instead you cling to the slopers by pure friction. In this category, there are both good slopers that almost have the shape of a ball and which you can almost squeeze around. At the other end of the slopers scale, there are the smaller slopers which can only be held with one single very open hand. These can be recommended for use on both slab walls and vertical climbing walls.
