BUTORA is Korean and means perseverance and determination. The word is used by Korean climbers and boulders when encouraging each other while saying "Go for it!"
For someone, climbing is a hobby or a sport. For many, it is a way of life. For Butora, climbing is a culture of climbers who challenge themselves on every turn, every pitch and every problem. For Burora, climbing is about learning how to overcome challenges and developing a form of resilience both physically and mentally that can be transferred to everyday life. As a climber, you are part of something bigger than yourself. Butora's mindset allows you to create positive change for yourself and for the world around you. That's the basic idea behind Butora, and it's the idea they want to carry on and implement for their design of climbing shoes.
The people behind Butora all met through the climbing environment. Their experience is that they themselves and all other climbers have for far too long accepted that climbing shoes only last a single season. When you as a climber do not break or give up, why should the climbing shoes! They wanted to overcome that challenge. Therefore, they design climbing shoes that give climbers the feeling of comfort, strength, precision and, performance - and not a feeling of pain. They want to share that feeling and experience with climbing shoes with the whole climbing world.
When choosing Butora climbing shoe size
Butora recommends choosing half a size larger than your everyday shoes when buying: Endeavor, Altura and Mantra
For Acro, they recommend that you choose the same size as your everyday shoes, however, you can go down half a size if you need a very tight bouldering or climbing shoe.
ECO-friendly 100% Hemp
Butora uses 100% hemp as a fabric in several of their models. It will appear in a small "ECO-friendly 100% Hemp" logo. The hemp helps keep the shoe in shape longer and also reduces smell.
